Fund a wallet, point your agent at it, and it pays for what it uses. Parallel x402 is live. It lets AI agents pay for APIs, data, and services autonomously per call, using the x402 standard, built on the HTTP 402 status code. Payments settle in stablecoins: USDp, sUSDp, USDC, and more. No accounts to create. No invoices to reconcile. No API keys to manage. No human clicking approve. The problem it solves Agents are starting to do real work: pulling data, calling models, chaining services. Every one of those calls has to be paid for, and every existing payment rail assumes a human is somewhere in the loop. Someone creates the account, someone enters the card, someone approves the charge. That model breaks the moment the buyer is software. An agent making a hundred calls an hour can't stop to fill in a checkout form. HTTP had the answer sitting in the spec for thirty years. Status code 402: Payment Required. Reserved since the beginning, never used. x402 finally uses it. How it works The flow is a single request cycle. The agent calls a paid endpoint. The server responds with a 402 and a price. The agent signs the payment authorization and retries the request with the payment attached. The server verifies, settles on chain, and returns the response. Stateless, one transaction per call, nothing to set up beforehand. The agent doesn't hold an account with anyone. It holds a wallet. The wallet is the budget This is the part that makes agent spending controllable without a control panel. You fund a wallet with USDp. That amount is the budget. The agent spends autonomously until the wallet is empty, and it can never spend more than what's in it. Want a bigger budget, add funds. Want to cut it off, stop funding it. No spending rules to configure, no limits dashboard, no approval queue. The constraint is the balance itself. The Settlement Layer Parallel x402 settles in stablecoins that support authorized transfers by signature: the payment is approved off-chain and settled on-chain in a single transaction, with no approval step and no human submitting anything. That property is not optional for agent payments; it is the whole mechanism. USDC has supported it natively for years. As of v3.2, USDp and sUSDp do too. USDp is the native option, and it brings something the others don't: overcollateralization, backing by yield-generating assets, depeg protection, and DAO governance. And sUSDp means an agent's idle budget doesn't have to sit there flat; the wallet earns while it waits to spend.
